Firms ‘extremely reluctant’ to hire
ocregister.com ^ | 7/6/10 | Jan Norman, small-business columnist

Few small-business owners would hire more workers even if they had more money, according to the monthly American Solutions survey.

Almost half (46%) would put the extra money into savings and 15% would hire more workers. One in 17 would use the money to delay laying off existing employees.

This is the basic reason for the lack of job creation even though most experts think the economy is no longer in recession.

“The cautious behavior shows entrepreneurs are still very reluctant to make any large investments or outlays of new capital given the current economic environment,” says American Solutions, a group chaired by former Congressman Newt Gingrich, that is conducting jobs summits across the country including Irvine.

Obama’s shovel-ready jobs:

This happened election night. Business owners first job is to stay in business. The ones that stay in business are usually very smart. As soon as O was elected they knew: taxes, regulations, headaches, lawsuits would go up exponentially. Credit might be restricted and other problems.

So they cut everything and they are still cutting. they did not stay in business by being stupid. They are waiting it out until O is gone.

Aka Atlas Shrugged - they have gone Galt.

We HAD to lay off one, but DID lay off two, just because we knew credit was going to dry up...and it did. We would have lost half the business and most of the inventory if we had not acted decisively, with layoffs and downsizing, switching to cash basis and cutting spending. That’s what works...unless, of course you are an effete POS who has never run anything...or a Marxist/Black Theologist Usurper bent on destroying us.

Never fear, obabarama will do an Executive Order demanding companies hire, and give a tax break for minority/muslim hires.

It’s not just small business. All businesses face too much uncertainty. They can’t plan short term, let alone think long term. Overregulation, cap & trade, effects of Obamacare, ..............

The reason why no new jobs are being created: the need to start conserving cash due to the end of the 2003 tax cuts and additional higher taxes needed to pay for health care reform and possibly the "cap and trade" law. I remember seeing on CNBC's Kudlow & Company just over a week ago that American businesses have hoarded an amazing US$2 TRILLION in liquid assets because they know the liquid assets will be needed to pay the higher taxes.

Is it small wonder why the Tea Party movement has gained tremendous strength and we could see the biggest "flip" in Congress since 1994?

We're in deep, deep economic trouble. And these liberals are going to friggin' sing and dance along, all the way, as they dance off a cliff.

You’re right. Couple a street thug “community organizer” with a radical POS agenda and that’s what we get.

The litany of job killing government policies is long and self evident. Repetition is boring.

Our family business would love to hire more people. We have the need. Unfortunately, the costs related to the upcoming Obamacare program plus the tax changes due in January are likely going to force us to fire everyone and shut our doors.

Ironically, most of our employees are black people who voted for the Dear Leader. I hope they remember him when they’re standing in line at the unemployment office.

It’s unlikely that they will remember. Here’s a quiz; ask those employees what political party Abraham Lincoln belonged to. I’ll predict that most of them will say that he was a Democrat.
