This is a discussion forum not a court of law.

You have a right to your opinion and I have the right to point out that in this case it is ridiculous.

I normally support the police and these stories are usually from the mother of the uninjured “youth” who was “turning his life around” caught doing something illegal at 2:00am not an 80 year old man who got the crap beaten out of him by cops at 6:00pm.

You are very likely right, but I still think more should be heard before people go rope shopping.

One, why did FOUR deputies need to respond?

Two, what you wanta’ bet the lodge employs the deputies as part time guards? Something sure is up. I hope the old man and his son end up owning Hays county.

Even the most obnoxious cons would respond to basic politeness. There were guards that delighted in being a-holes.

Another job I worked had me as the only white guy in a facility where a high percentage of the staff was Nation of Islam (crazy Louie’s bunch). We had some lively debates, but when it came down to it, they were just folks wanting to do right for their families, and stuck in a sucky place to do it.

I even had one stand up for me in a hearing where false racism charges were involved.

“did momentarily cross the line into the use of excessive force”

If the fella getting beat up to "wake him up" had momentarily crossed the line and defended himself by putting a round into the cops forehead would he be out strolling around free?

When you start to screaming at folks adrenalin gets pumping.

You dont go on red alert for an old man looking for his fishing pole

More than we realize. Given the choice, most folks will go with their better natures.

At least that has been my experience in some very strange situations.

That kind of force by LEO when their lives weren’t in jeopardy is inexcusable, especially against an 80 yr. old.

The comment beneath the story about LE training these days is more than a little bit alarming, if it’s true. And, it might be true considering what kids are taught in public schools and “institutions of higher learning”.

I never recall screaming at any of the cons. Usually, a dissappointed look and “Now you know what you’re doing ain’t right” worked.

Humor was good too, you get a guy to laugh at his situation in jail, and he’ll cooperate every time.

Always stay trigger ready but but always use reason.

Only an animal would maul another man for no reason.

I hope these charges prove to be baseless.

The hospital records will tell. One way or another.

“Antonio” Bain, “Juan” Long, “Jesus” Smith and “Benito” Ayrs???

On their momma’s side prolly??? ;-)

All kidding aside, this is just another example of the degenerative qualities of some law enforcement agencies, that give those that do actually do a good job for the communities they serve a bad rep as well...It is unfortunate...

The neighbor who filed a false police report should be dealt with as well...If there was no tresspassing to begin with, then bingo...No more neighbor problems...

Do you suppose you could explain how a diving pig caused environmental wackos?

The pig and other activities at Aquarena Springs>Aquarena Springs were supposedly polluting the springs and the San Marcos river which flows from them.

Here's Ralph in action:
