Alleged Russian spies had registered to vote in Cambridge
Boston Globe ^ | July 2, 2010 | Alex Katz

The Cambridge couple who allegedly lived double lives as Russian spies and ordinary Americans took another step last fall to blend into what they claimed to be their adopted homeland -- they both registered to vote for the first time.

But, according to the Cambridge Board of Elections, Donald Howard Heathfield and Tracey Lee Ann Foley never voted.

At the request of the Globe, the board today released copies of the voter applications the couple mailed to Cambridge City Hall last October.

Until such a time that we have a "great auditing" of our voter rolls, this will NEVER go away. Of course they registered to vote. Why not? What's to stop them?

We need to have a nationwide registration "do over". Erase everyone from the rolls and only allow people to re-register that have a birth certificate or passport, period. And, every year those rolls should be checked against a state and national database of convicted felons.

Of course, this will never happen. Some conservatives would complain about "big brother", and the liberals just wouldn't give up the additional votes.

"Voting rights granted by a passport?"

No dude, they aren't guaranteed by the passport, they're guaranteed by citizenship. No citizenship, no passport. I said either a birth certificate or a passport, the option giving merely as a convenience. In some states, one can register to vote with a driver's license. Driver's licenses don't guarantee citizenship, but passports and birth certificates do.

Just for starters:

“Also today, Leon Fuerth, Al Gore’s former top national security aide when Gore was vice president, told the Globe in an email that he had business ties with Heathfield.”

The story may say this, but Politico reported that at least one (perhaps more) of the “spies” also had business ties to one of Hilary Clinton’s best friends, who is also a big time DNC money-man. In fact, one of the spies worked for a financial services firm that catered almost exclusively to Democrat political donors. Who knows what information was uncovered and used to garner favor the the Russians.

The story doesn’t mention it, but here is an article that does:

I once misplaced my passport while out of the country. The consulate was willing to issue me a new passport because I had my voter-registration card. Voter registration card = citizen, right? In the old days.

Don’t really understand why the big deal about Russian spies. I mean, their guys already occupy the White House so what’s the problem with them being here?

It’s like when dog crap gets tracked into the kitchen and people get upset about the flies buzzing around the dog crap. Seems the crap in the house is a bigger issue than the flies.
