If the controversial illegal immigration law recently passed there and the widespread support polls show it has gotten there weren’t enough of a sign they take the immigration issue seriously down there, check out Corporation Commission candidate Barry Wong’s new proposed policy: shutting off electricity to any building in which authorities suspect illegal immigrants may reside.

Wong was a guest on Fox News earlier today, where Stuart Varney couldn’t continue the interview without first asking whether his proposal was tongue-in-cheek. If Varney was hoping to get Wong to break character, he was sorely mistaken

You got to love his respect for Due Process where authorities can take action against a person that they suspect may not be legal.

One or two small details to iron out. I wonder how many homes they could shut off before the obligatory injunction gets delivered.

I think this is aimed at drop houses. There are houses where time after time after time they find 50 to 60 illegals stuffed inside.

Who said it took two Wongs to make it right in the State of AZ? It only takes on Wong these days.

Shutting off power to buildings in desert areas that reach 120+ degrees amounts to something akin to murder.

I hate the current situation but there has to be better ways!

If you did this even to a dog it would be a felony in this state.

Yes, there's no way to do this, at all. But, to turn the premise on its head, what if a utility company said we won't turn on power to people who are in the country illegally? Would that be unconstitutional?

A utility is a creditor. Isn't it a fair part of the lending process to establish if the credit applicant is in any kind of jeopardy of deportation, or has other pending criminal problems?

Shutting off state services like welfare and giving it back to American citizens that really need it better.

How do you think the illegals got there to begin with?

Furthermore, do you think our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan are walking in a rose garden?

You can live without power, especially in the summer. For food, there’s takeout, home delivery, or cooking on a campstove / daily shopping. A lot more hassle, but it can be done.

What you CAN’T live without is a water supply.

Nope. Wong Idea.

Violation of 1st, 4th, 5th, 9th, 10th and 14th ammendment.

Think about it. You will be asked to prove your American Bona Fides and you don’t really think it will stop at the electric company do you?

The requests will become more intrusive on real Americans, who have broken no laws and are or should not be, under no obligation to answer the governments question by way of Proxy: The Electric Company.

Sure, we all want illegal immigration to end and end anyway possible but do we really want the government asking for your papers, whenever they please?

The result will be an ABROGATION of 1st, 4th, 5th, 9th, 10th and 14th ammendment.

Besides, what are the determinant values for who is a citizen and what class of citizen, visitor, H1B, etc?

Do you really want everyone to carry an American Passport, which will ultimately become their national I.D.?

It costs $75 to obtain a Passport and 6-8 weeks waiting. It is currently the only proof of your citizenship and supposedly verified by the U.S. Government.

Besides, Barry says our borders are to vast and we need to create a pathway for citizenship. Right *ss clown.

flame away....

This state was inhabited long before the luxury of air conditioning. We are friends with an elderly German woman (in her late 80’s) who has never had air conditioning. She rides her bike through town in the summer rather than drive her truck. If she must drive the truck-groceries or major purchases still no air. There are two openings this election for corporation commission seats. Wong has been given a lot of press. Someone else is bound to jump on the bandwagon soon. This is a fun year.

It just could be that the "suspected" homes (apartments are known to be owned by illegals/and or these "suspected" homes are occupied by people who are months behind paying their bills or have had them cut off many times.

In our area (not AZ) illegals own and operate businesses and probably also apartment buildings (during the 2008 election, information was found that of the millions of home owners with mortgage problems 5 million were "loans" granted to people who could not prove that they were in the country legally, a practice begun under Clinton/Gore and carried forward by Geo. W. Bush!)
