"I thought that was strange too - and why did they only focus on endocrine, what about neurotoxicity and other things?" How do you test "neurotoxicity" in fish and shrimp?? It's difficult to do mental ability tests on them.
And they "did" test for other things besides endrocrine disruption (like total toxicity). The reason for testing for endocrine disruption is that it is the new "buzz phrase" for BAD, BAD, CHEMICAL.

I can see it now. By the time the whale gets into the gulf and becomes operational most of the surface oil will be so dispersed due to this storm and the wave action... they will then announce, it is not usefull in tight quarters so close to the actual spill area.
Then they will send the whale home with a thank you.
