The federal firearms act banning automatic weapons is unconstitutional.

The government has no authority to regulate the types of weapons I can possess. They can regulate the manner in which they are discharged. i.e. cannot hunt deer with a full-auto. Cannot discharge within 100 feet of a dwelling, etc.

“Reasonable” is a big word. Besides did you know machine guns, sub-machine guns aka automatic weapons are legal to own under federal law? CLASS III but not new guns. The ones that already have a tax stamp can be bought and sold under federal law. State bans are another matter. They are unconstitutional if they are an outright ban, not a reasonable restriction, so said the USSC today.
