WASHINGTON -- Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who was fired last week as the top U.S. general in the stalemated Afghanistan war, has told the Army that he will retire.

He was not “fired”, he resigned and I sure as in the hell do not blame him.
After that he is free to speak. I wonder if he does?
I applaud what he & his staff said about the civilian leadership. What is unforgivable is that he voted for Dingle Barry.
I dounbt he will speak negatively about Barry. He said he voted for him in the last election and reportedly banned Fox News in his offices.
he desired to be fired. I just hate that 0dumbo did it
Any General who would say he was changing USA strategy, that the USA had been” preoccupied with the safety of our own forces” deserves to be fired or killed.
When we as a nation get to the point that we are not preoccupied with keeping our troops safe we need to wake up
Good question..
Will he be in fear of the Chicago thugocracy?
Retirement is SOP in a case like this.He knew beforehand that when a senior officer publicly slams the CiC he/she might as well clear out the office and get your fishing rod cleaned up.
Bet his book will be an eye popping big seller.
Exactly. Resigned. In fact, it was Fox that announced he resigned.
And shortly after take up an analysts job at Fox News.
We have not seen the last of General McChrystal, he has a plan.
See post #6
some truth full interviews will be nice
He voted for obama... I blame him for plenty.

Yes, he's free to discuss any of the non-classified aspects of his soon-to-be former position. I suspect a book offering is already in the works. Literary agents all over the country are salivating for this one.
I'm not sure that that's entirely correct.I think (but am not sure) that it depends how he separated. If he "retired" I think he's still, technically, subject to recall and,as a result,is still not entirely free to speak publicly.OTOH,if he resigned his commission I think he's *done* and,as a result,*is* free to talk.
I wasn't an officer so I'm not sure of any of this.Perhaps some officers could set me straight if needed.
My, my, my. The libs are going to try to tear him apart for fear that he may spill the beans on the bamster.
I bet he keeps everything he knows close to his chest and says not a word!
Don't think so. McChrystal is a liberal who voted for this awful president, banned Fox News Channel from his TV sets, and was dumb enough to trust a reporter from Rolling Stone magazine.
