A Northwest Portland psychiatrist who the state has reprimanded for wrongly prescribing drugs says he plans to open a facility in the city and charge fees to help patients end their lives under Oregon's Death with Dignity Act.

Stuart G. Weisberg has mailed invitations to local doctors and politicians inviting them to a July 21 "presentation" at the deluxe El Gaucho restaurant in downtown to unveil his new business, End of Life Consultants LLC.

This reminds me of that scene in Soylent Green with Edward G. Robinson. He should watch the movie for marketing ideas and for creating the right ambiance.

If you had to watch my mother die in withering agony, on Morphne,,as I did, you may rethink your position.

It’s really accelerating. I wonder if he’ll get the gold crowns from their teeth, too.

A side of hemlock to go?

A lot of people seem to forget that Socrates was FORCED to drink hemlock, it was an EXECUTION, he DID NOT want to die and it WAS NOT a suicide.

With all due respect, if she was on morphine, why was she in withering agony?

Many of us pro-life people have watched our parents die. And cared for them as well.

Killing people is not the answer. Well, I guess it might be, depending on the question. (For instance, if the question is “how to get rid of all these unnecessarily “other people”?)

If you are interested, there are tons of articles on euthanasia on FR (I noticed you just registered recently) describing the inevitable slipper slope of how doctor assisted suicide quickly leads to murdering people without their consent, and the parameters of who should die gets wider and wider - the depressed, just because they’re over 70, “tired of life”, have some kind of physical or mental impairment that prevents them from “enjoying life”, and now it’s children too.

In the Netherlands and Belgium a huge percentage of people are just flatout killed without and requests on the patients’ (victims) part.

Morphine was not strong enough to stop the racking of the worst case of RA you ever wanted to see.

I will personally blow my brains out before I have to expedience what she did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m just wondering.... doesn’t morphine suppress your respiratory system so that if you get enough you simply stop breathing??

This sounds really sad, and that your mother wasn’t receiving adequate pain management.

Watched a pbs special about this happening in Europe. The man had some kind of terminal illness and he and his wife traveled overseas. He checked in to some kind of building where they give you a horrible tasting drink that kills you. It was very sad... and disturbing.

I’m having a hard time buying that. Sorry.

And in any case, no matter how bad it gets, we don’t have the right to play God and kill innocent human beings.
