I wonder if anyone explained to The Won that he just demoted General Patreus? I think it's either temporary or there's a quid pro quo involved. Mullen's second term as Chairman of the Joint Chief's ends in 2011. Petraeus may have been told that the job is his if he can first clean up Afghanistan.
