Actually cancelled was right in the U.S. until people decided to kow-tow to spell-checkers from Redmond and standardize on the other convention. Doubling terminal letters to preserve the short vowel was standard when I went through American schools, and it wasn’t all that long ago.

About the only way I can see to shut this down would be a nationwide strike. I have no way of stopping payroll taxes from being taken from my paycheck ...other than to not work. No budget=No money.

He claimed GOP Congress did same in 98 and a couple other years, but for all I know, maybe they did something SIMILAR, not quite apples and oranges, but maybe Romes and Granny Smiths. So then his assertion would be in the distortion zone, but what else is new?

I guess I've fallen so far into cynicism regarding our government, that I can't even see this working. The government is taking in around 2 trillion in taxes a year and spending around 4 trillion a year now. If we stop working and cut tax revenues in half to 1 trillion, I honestly think our government is so far removed from rational behavior and reality now that they would simply increase their spending to 5 trillion. We are no longer being lead by rational logical thinking people anymore. Our government (state and federal) has become our own worst enemy of defending our current way of life. I get really discouraged thinking in this glass half empty way, but right now, the patients are literally running the mental institute, IMO.
