This fight is very old in America.
Strenuous efforts to keep the Government OUT of schools and to assure a free, objective and unbiased media (or at least, a functional moral counter) are absolute requirements if you would avoid tyranny. Failing in these two, it doesn’t matter what else you do right because it won’t matter. We are finding that out right now.
Unfortunately for the last several decades, the US relaxed its guard against both of these preconditions to tyranny and now we (I almost hate to say it) got what we deserve.
If “O” did not come along to yank Liberal Americans out of their social/political brand X status, some other equally manipulative and opportunistic person would have suited DNC purposes. “O” takes radical populism uptown and calls it ‘hope and change’. Guys like “O” are thick on the ground in America, nowadays… it’s time for Conservatives to take the gloves off!!
I blame Conservatives who should have seen this coming way back!

I blame Conservatives who should have seen this coming way back!
Conservatives have seen this coming for decades. Read None Dare Call it Treason, for starters.
The people who you should blame are the ones who threw those selfsame Conservatives under the bus, reviling them as 'crackpot' or 'extremist', discarding even the balance they could have provided to a discussion tilted toward socialism by the most extreme Leftist rhetoric, but unbalanced in the public mainstream discourse by the Conservatives.
Instead the mainstream and 'middle-of-the-road' redefined itself as the right wing, with the unenviable and self-imposed disadvantage of bargaining against the full spectrum of Leftist doctrine from the middle, and 'compromising' in a situation which led to inexorably more leftist outcomes.
Every election year, Conservatives have again raised themselves from the dustbin of politics to decry the advances of the Leftist agenda, to be reviled, marginalized, or placated by assurances their grievances would be dealt with, only to be again relegated to the fringe by their own alleged political allies.
We have heard the 'lesser of two evils' for so long that the difference has largely become marginal, the middle of the road is in the left ditch, and Socialism runs rampant at every level.
I have been aware of this for a mere fourty years, but the fight is much older than that.
Even on this site, the ideas set forth by the founders in the Constitution have been met with derision, although less so, between weeding out trolls and the fact that you would have to be so blind as to not see your hand in front of your face to miss the Socialist idealogy evident in virtually every venue or to look back along the path to totalitarianism our government has been steadily taking for a century.
