Criticism of the President and his policies must come from outside the military, never within.
Precisely and absolutely correct, I'm surprised to read so many here who either don't know this or don't think it matters as much as it does. One may hold whatever opinion he cares to while in the military, however, he may not express it this way -- you wanna spout off, you take your uniform off, as you say, you resign your commission first.
I don't read RS, and from the link above, I'm not getting specific quote from McChrystal, I'm not clear on exactly what he said. But from the sound of it, hearsay though it may be, it does seem to be insubordinate. I wasn't around back when, but from what my mother has told me, MacArthur may well have been correct in his military assessment but he was not correct in his public comments, Truman did what was right and proper in the circumstance, regardless how the people of the country felt.
There can be no exceptions to this rule.
We don’t live in normal times. We have not been run by communists who hate and wish to destroy our nation.
We have to get out of the box of tradition to save this country. Rules such as this offer protection to the communists. They need to have their rotting intentions dragged into the daylight and a stake drove through their treachery.

There seems to be a concerted effort to create a total break-down between the purpose of our military and the destruction of it from this administration. At what point does the old respect for the chain of command have to give way to survival of the mission, survival of military personnel, and survival of the country?
Maybe McChrystal can join forces with Lakin.
I hate to say it but I think a lot of people here are fine with it because it isn't "their guy" in office. They would be calling for heads to roll if generals were criticizing a conservative president publicly.
