Thanks for the pdf. Reading it now. It did not take long to realize this started out as a hit piece. First paragraph.

I think it’s unlikely he said anything unfortunate during an interview with The Rolling Stone or anybody else.

My thoughts exactly. What sober general would spill his guts to Rolling Stone magazine? Something is very strange about this story.

He will be. If he had done this under Bush, Congress would be summoning him to hearings on caphill to get him to dish more dirt.

While I disagree with the way the General expressed his view, the truth does hurt.

The whole Obama administration thought they could fight and win a war using the PC warfare.

"Them clothes got laundry numbers on them. You remember your number and always wear the ones that has your number. Any man forgets his number spends a night in the box. These here spoons you keep with you. Any man loses his spoon spends a night in the box. There's no playing grab-ass or fighting in the building. You got a grudge against another man, you fight him Saturday afternoon. Any man playing grab-ass or fighting in the building spends a night in the box. First bell's at five minutes of eight when you will get in your bunk. Last bell is at eight. Any man not in his bunk at eight spends the night in the box. There is no smoking in the prone position in bed. To smoke you must have both legs over the side of your bunk. Any man caught smoking in the prone position in bed... spends a night in the box. You get two sheets. Every Saturday, you put the clean sheet on the top... the top sheet on the bottom... and the bottom sheet you turn in to the laundry boy. Any man turns in the wrong sheet spends a night in the box. No one'll sit in the bunks with dirty pants on. Any man with dirty pants on sitting on the bunks spends a night in the box. Any man don't bring back his empty pop bottle spends a night in the box. Any man loud talking spends a night in the box. You got questions, you come to me. I'm the floor walker. I'm responsible for order in here. Any man don't keep order spends a night in... "

I just had a thought — it’s a theory that may explain all this. What do you think?

As some said, normally a general would not engage in bad- mouthing his CiC to the press, and McC may have voted for Obama, but he is not so stupid that he doesn’t understand the consequences.

What if McC found out that Obama is about to fire him, make him the scape goat for our troubles in Afghanistan and AFTER he found this out, he decided to engage in a “pre-emptive strike”, giving the RS interview, he at least wanted to tell people what’s going on BEFORE he gets fired.

Then once he said it, he has no other choice, but to apologize, but at least he is not going to go down quietly, not going to fall on his sword to protect Obama.

The more I think about it, the more sense this makes to me.

This is as close to a mutiny as you can get. And a LOT of Americans, perhaps a majority, will be backing the mutiny.
Agreed.

Question: At what point do we support a military coup in this country, with the aim of restoring our rights and freedoms, with (hopefully) free and fair elections at the next cycle?

My concern is that once they have the power, the military will not relinquish it willingly. But at this point, I have way more confidence in the honor and integrity of the military than I do with our democratic masters, who seem hell bent on disenfranchising the white, productive members of our society so as to bring about a socialist utopia.

Generals Winfield Scott and George McClellan both ran for President as serving Army officers. (McClellan resigned his commission on Election Day)

Thats a bit harsh. Military folks are entitled to their vote like the rest of us. It cant be helped if they waste it.

For that matter, many repubs sat out and they could be called more a disgrace for failing to perform their duty to vote.

The Poll gives the wrong proper responses. The blame should be on Obama for all the obvious reasons elucidate on this thread.

“Speaking truth to power-I like it”

It’s not the speaking truth to power that is the problem. It’s going to the press that is the problem.

McChrystal is not fit for command if he actually went to the press with criticism of the Commander-in-Chief.

He would not tolerate it from his command structure, nor should he.

This is unfortunately the Generalship we get with wars that aren’t really wars.

Any General worth his stars would have been fired years ago for speaking up against nation building, rules of engagement that endanger troops, and other pursuits that do not lead to a military victory - which was in fact ruled out by GWB several years ago in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Obama will make a mess of this situation.”

He already has. We have Rahm Emmanuel stating when we’re going to leave Afghanistan.

Every day there’s a new disaster with this Administration.

Shades of Truman / MacArthur.

Let's see if Obama fires him. I suspect he will, just to show he can “kick someone’s ass”.

This is just another result of the “change” Obozo has put into action. Some men are showing they have a set.
