(World Cup) N. Korea crushed 7-0 by Portugal in World Cup group match

By Tony Chang

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, June 21 (Yonhap) -- North Korea crashed out of competition in the World Cup finals after being trounced 7-0 by Portugal in their second Group G match on Monday.

The setback pushed North Korea to the bottom of Group G which also includes Brazil and Ivory Coast. The North Koreans earlier had lost to Brazil 1-2, while Portugal had fought a scoreless draw with Ivory Coast.

North Korea now are scheduled to play Ivory Coast in their final group-stage match but its result wouldn't affect the North's elimination from the tournament.

N. Korea broadcast this match live on its state TV. It would have been shocking to watch their country blown away by 7:0. Whoever suggested this 'bright idea' of live broadcast must be in deep trouble now. Some S. Koreans joke that N. Korean coach's invisible cellphone must have broken down, and he could not get timely instruction from omniscient Chia Head.

On the plus side not very many people had TVs to watch it. They sure wouldn’t want the common person to see people eating real food.

We’re also assuming they didn’t have some kind of tape delay.

I wonder if these soccer players will survive upon returning home.

These Nokor players better make up a plan to defect soon (Cuban player style ). Suffering such a humiliating defeat will incur the wrath of the increasingly mentally unstable Dear Leader.

I’m a guessing that a whole lotta NK soccer players will mysteriously disappear after returning home. Too bad.

If Chia Head had been using Verizon, he wouldn’t have had so many crucial drop-outs to his coach’s invisible cell phone.

Good thing Dear Reader wasn’t on the field playing, or it would have been a triple browout the other way!

Was at a bar during the last NK match and commented how they are the most motivated team out there due to the treatment they'll get if they go home after losing. An acquaintance was incredulous and stated that doesn't happen anymore. I said in NK it sure still does.

I guess the “fake” North Korean fans didn’t yell loud enough.

The team and their families will all be imprisoned or killed. I have a Chinese friend who waxed on about the “spirited North Koreans” after they played well against whoever it was last week. I said, “yeah, I’d be spirited too, if my life depended on the outcome!”

Your right...Who knows that if they go back home and suffer an “unfortunate” accident, it might take a soccer incident to drive the world to take action against North Korea...The world could care less about any conflicts between North Korea and the US/South Korea, but you get in the way of soccer, you will see nukes being set off by British/French bombers over Pyong-Yang.

Isn't soccer like golf where you go for the lowest score, such as when Chia Head got 34 under par?

They’ll just edit out all of the goals, and pretend the match ended 0-0.

Watched the game and enjoyed it so very much — especially the final score.

Ya think Chia Pet will now try to model his “looks” after Cristiano Ronaldo?
