WASHINGTON (AFP) Are US voters as angry at BP over the disastrous Gulf of Mexico oil spill, and at big Wall Street banks over the sour US economy, as they are furious at the political establishment in Washington?
President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies, facing glum prospects in November elections shaped by anti-incumbent fire, hope the answer is yes, and have bet their fortunes on painting Republicans as pawns of wealthy interests.
Obama on Saturday accused his foes of "dreary and familiar politics," saying Republicans were blocking his efforts to address unemployment and obstructing a bill to "hold oil companies accountable for the disasters they cause."
"Whether we are Democrats or Republicans, we've got an obligation that goes beyond caring about the next election. We have an obligation to care for the next generation," he scolded in his weekly radio address.
Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was blunter, charging Friday that "Republicans come to work each day to fight for their special interest friends, for corporate America, for multimillionaires, for billionaires."
Reid worked to direct public anger over stubbornly high joblessness -- arguably the darkest cloud over Democratic political prospects -- at former president George W. Bush and his Republican allies in the US Congress.
"Why are there so many people out of work? It's because of the policies of the prior administration. It's what went on in Wall Street, cutting the legs off economies all over America," the Nevada lawmaker said.
But whether the Democratic strategy -- central to their political playbook for decades -- will curb the heavy losses they expect in Congress this year is far from clear.

"The reality is that they are the party in charge at a time when things are just not going well," Dickinson told AFP.

The Democrats still have NOT figured out that the anger is only exacerbated by the oil spill. The actions by this Democratic Congress has long ago made enemies of the majority of the voters. That is okay, they will finally realize that this fall...

Say that fast nine times.
You’re all fired.
They just need to raise taxes on anger.
Remember: those people aren’t “angry” they’re just racist.
O-Dumb-oh has forgotten the last part of Abe Lincoln’s famous declaration: You can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
And, time has run out for this gang of incompetents!
Sounds like a Billboard that should be erected on the Las Vegas Strip.
I am not angry at banks or companies. I am angry at Democrat socialist scumbags.

Only those who are predisposed to vote for a Democrat will buy into this latest rhetoric. Aside from that it’ll be a bloodbath.
How about buffoon in chief. The least qualified individual in American history to achieve the presidency of this great nation ... and it shows. Again & again & again ...
Then why the rush to spend us into oblivion?!??!
Pretty much sums him up.
