Without going to the site, do they get around to mentioning how small the change will be?

I seem to recall some scuttlebutt a few weeks ago that this damis already cracking and showing other signs of structural failure (concrete not allowed to set properly, etc.). Any truth to that?

So when we tested nukes underground in the fifties, did we create a giant jet stream and move OUR axis/rotation/trajectory by popping that pimple?

OK, 600 square kilometers, lets rough that out and call it 200 square miles, which is a piece of dirt 10 miles by 20 miles.

Don’t get me wrong. But I’m betting there have been plenty of years when the Cascade mountains in Or/Wa and BC have had like 40-70 foot base of snow on them.

And the Cascades add up to a little more than 20 square miles.

I’m just fudging around a bit, but seems to me there are other things that in the greater scheme make this into small potatoes.

Didn’t Superman do that by flying around Earth real fast the wrong way?

Big deal. If you erect a flag pole in your backyard, it will increase the moment of inertia of the earth and slow its rotation. Same thing when you raise your hand. You get out of bed and stand straight up and you are slowing the earth’s rotation. So what’s a dam.

Why not a story on how Kirstie Alley’s weight gain caused days to become longer by 0.000000000000006 trillionth of a second?

It would seem to me that everytime it rains, water is taken from a lower elevation to a higher elevation, where is takes an amount of soil and rock with it back to a lower elevation. (The natural cycle is for erosion to take things downhill.)

Thus, earth should naturally be speeding up all the time. (The figure skate is slowly pulling her arms in.)

This giant dam, that takes water from a lower elevation and keeps it at a higher elevation should just offset a portion of this.

I used to post maningfull stuff at the NY Times.

I know and I have changed my ways!

I am a wind energy advocate and was dissed by an enviroweirdo! He said that the windmills would add drag to the earths rotation and slow down the earth's spin.

Maybe we need to leave the Horizon Oil in the gulf. This slipperiness will offset the Chinese drag!

Maybe this is Obumble's plan to win another Nobel Fleece Prize!

I’m happy as a clam. My tomatoes will get bigger due to longer days and sunlight.

Now, with the one extra hour (daylight savings) the democrats gave us plus the extra daylight that the Chinese gave us, all crops should grow better and there will be no food shortages throughout the world. It’s simply wonderful.

How can life get any better. Due to the government we get extra sunlight and Obama money. The “One” has certainly been a savior to humanity along with his friends, the Chinks.

I tend to say it might increase the precession of the rotation of the Earth thereby altering our orbit around the Sun a little quicker resulting in the expediting of the next ice age.

I am going to a beef fest this weekend. How much should I consume to compensate for this dam thing.

If I did the math right, given a 40 hour week, 50 weeks/year over a 40 year career span this means future generations will work 1/840,000th or 1/84,000th of a second longer depending on if the decimal was placed properly.
