It is even worse than the picture you paint.

No only would you have unemployment in the 20% range, but those who would be employed would be seriously restricted as to where they work and under what conditions.

I am old enough to remember the factory towns where the workers lived across the street from the plant or within walking distance. They kept what little money they had in the company owned bank and bought at the company store.

The advent of the practical automobile and cheap fuel enabled the worker to take a job in a town 25 miles or more away. That gave him the bargaining power he needed to improve his lot in life or in most cases, change his profession.

Obummer, the Marxist now posing as a Fascist, has as his eventual goal, returning the working man to those days.

It is not our money but our freedom that is at stake.

That's what is being set up again to do - isn't it?

America is turning into a company town...this time it's the government that's the company; it's one big huge company town.

Excellent Analogy!

There is a big NYSE listed company headquartered a half hour drive from my home. Old timers who have retired from there tell tales of when the workers were paid in company scrip that was good only at the company owned store a half mile or so away. I have been told of people loading all they owned on a two horse wagon and leaving town at two in the morning because they owed the company more than they could ever hope to pay and they couldn’t be seen trying to leave in daylight.

They would go and find a farm where they could sharecrop rather than try to stay employed at the factory. Obama wants to put us back to that level or even worse.

It’s interesting reading your post. I live in an area where neighbors regularly get together to make shopping excursions to New Hampshire to save the 6% sales tax on big ticket items.
