Remind me again why Chris Christie can’t be president in 2012?
True/Slant ^ | Jun. 16 2010 | Bill Dupray

The prognostication, pro and con, about a possible Chris Christie 2012 candidacy is popping all over the place.

Glenn Reynolds says we could do worse (and probably will). Conservative American likes Christie’s blunt, direct talk. Winning attributes of a presidential candidate depend keenly on those of his (or her . . .) predecessor. Blunt, direct talk may not fly in every quadrennial contest, but in 2012, after four very long years of professorial obfuscation and liberal double-speak, the freshness of classic American plain talk might be just what the doctor ordered.

Fellow Virginia blogger Garrett Watson at On The Right thinks Christie has been a “perfect” conservative since taking office. He certainly has been fiscally conservative and entirely unafraid to take on the fully engorged, foaming-at-the-mouth New Jersey unions. Again, a budget-cutter who shreds special interests over breakfast ......

Conservatives are rising to move the GOP/RNC/RINOs to the great RINO boneyard in the sky. Addios McCain, Romney....

Good grief. The guy has been in office for a microsecond. Let’s see where he stands on NUMEROUS other issues.

Christie is bad on 2nd Amendment and squishy on pro-life.

He makes a lot of RINO’s look pathetic, in as you say, in two months he’s taken on the debt, unions, contracts.

He’s not your usual, limp, corporate GOP woose.

Palin will take care of that.

He reminds me of Rudy. But Rudy ended up with more liberal baggage than you can shake a stick at.

'Christie is bad on 2nd Amendment and squishy on pro-life.

I don't know what it is about east coast Republicans, but they just don't get the 2nd Amendment. I'm not sure if it's because most of them are city boys who've never spent a minute in the great outdoors, or what.

I'm not sure why they think it's not a mainstream position to say that gun ownership shouldn't be abridged or impeded in any way absent a felony conviction of some kind.

Christie looks like a real winner so far. If he can combine Guiliani's leadership style and ability with conservative stands on social issues, you've got a Reagan for the 21st century. I sure hope he pans out in N.J. I'll be keeping an eye on him.

The 2nd Amendment will one way or the other probably not be a huge issue before too long when the incorporation clause comes down.

From a glance at Wikipedia, it sounds like he is against abortion but it isn’t a major concern for him. At least as part of his platform.

City boys don`t have any experience with guns, huh? Maybe it`s because they do that they`re so squishy on gun rights.

I don`t approve of that, but seriously, is it that hard to figure out? If you live in the city, the only time you encounter guns is when criminal activity is involved.

As someone who`s lived in both city and country I can tell you, they`re two totally different gun cultures.

The repub party needs to find a guy/girl who is a no foolin Constitutional take no prisoners type. In national level elections the repub has many opponants. The dim candidate, the press, academia, unions, illegal votors and on and on. The dim candidate has only one opponant. The candidate needs to be appealling to the electorate, but at the same time needs to be someone who will stand up for this country and it’s taxpayers. And we need a person who the bad guys of the world crap in their pants at the mention of their name. Then let’s pick up the pieces of the destruction of what the dimrat party has flung on us, take back our country and scare the hell out of the bad guys. Otherwise we will become Europe pushed around by the muslims and taxing the crap out of people who are foolish enough to go to work. This country needs to be feared not liked. Screw the touchy feely goofs. The world is run by who is the baddest dog on the block. And we are turning into a freaking toy poodle under barry the first.

Exactly. We`re so desperate to join the battle for the WH we`re looking at anyone who`s had a shining moment and thinking `Our candidate!` The bar has been lowered so much that we seem to have just given up on that whole `experience` thing.

Congress has no stomach for gun control and too many liberals are on the Supreme Court to really change abortion laws. What we need NOW is someone who is strong on the economy and will take on tax and spend liberals.
