Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he will conduct another of his controversial crime sweeps the day after Arizona's new immigration law takes effect.
During past sweeps, deputies often flooded heavily Latino areas to round up traffic violators and make arrests of other alleged lawbreakers, The Arizona Republic reported Wednesday.
Under the new rules, which go into effect July 28, officers enforcing other laws will be allowed to question a person's immigration status if they have a reasonable suspicion the person is in the country illegally, the newspaper said.
Arpaio, the Maricopa County Sheriff, has conducted 15 such sweeps in the past, drawing criticism from civil rights advocates.
Groups challenging the new law have asked a judge to block the implementation of the new law, the Republic reported.
Go get ‘em Joe, Go!
Sheriff Joe is enforcing the law, not only Arizona law but federal law.
Thank God for Sheriff Joe!
Keep up the great work, sheriff Joe!
“Arpaio, the Maricopa County Sheriff, has conducted 15 such sweeps in the past, drawing criticism from civil rights advocates.”
No further proof of his correctness is needed...
If anyone plans on vacationing in Arizona, bring your golf clubs, lot’s of nice courses there.
Who ate the beans?
Joe is America’s Sheriff.
On a slight tangent, today I called in a tip to ICE about an ad I’d seen, in which some guy was looking to marry for “papers”. The ICE wanted the name, birthdate, home address, and phone # for the guy I was reporting! Sorry, but how many people have that info when calling in a tip?
The ICE agent said he’d fill out the report anyway, but he was pretty sure nothing would be done about it.
Ping!
