The last genetic study I saw implied that the proportion of anglo-saxon blood in the genetic makeup of the English was actually quite small, in the order of 20-25%, nordic and norman was even rarer, and roman vanishingly small. The conclusion was that the genetic heritage of the English was overwhelming Celtic. Maybe things have moved on.

As far as oral traditions and archeology go, it seems that the Celts arrived in Britain in several waves, the first one being about 4500 BC, a second really big one about 2500 BC. The aboriginal inhabitants were of Hamitic stock and probably came from North Africa/Middle East sort of area.

Yes...I remember that clearly as well. It was about 4 years ago...completely opposite of what this study finds.
