It was idiot Kennedy who first passed the “anchor baby” concept. Most likely he was thinking of getting cheap help and creating an underclass that would always vote Dem. This legislation should be reversed - no other country has such ridiculous laws on the books. Even back in the 60’s the Dems were determined to ruin this country simply to make their own lives easier.

Someone explain to me about this ‘anchor baby’????

So, if you are illegal and you come to USA and have a child- MAYBE th child is legal but YOU still are not- so... go home and take your baby? Or leave the US citizend here and go home...

I think the US constitution DOES NOT automatically make someone a citizen just because they are born her because hey are NOT under the “jusrisdictions” part of the clause...

Actually it was an 1898 Supreme Court ruling, United States v. Wong Kim Ark. The key 14th Amendment phrase is "....and subject to the jurisdiction thereof..." The children of diplomats born here are not American citizens, so it is not ironclad. It is just that our courts have seen fit to interpret it that way. In fact, the 1898 Supreme Court ruling that started all the anchor baby stuff left a huge opening for Congress to go in and clarify, saying in effect that, in the absence, and only in the absence, of Congressional definition, intent and legislation, the children of illegals are Americans. But Congress has not, so far, seen fit to clarity, define and legislate. The author of the 14th Amendment, Senator Jacob M. Howard, stated, in reference to the Amendment, "This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, those who belong to the family of ambassadors, or foreign ministers accredited to the the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons."

If by "the anchor baby concept" you mean the concept that a child born on U.S. soil to alien parents is automatically a U.S. citizen, Kennedy had nothing to do with that-- it goes back at least as far as the Supreme Court's Wong Kim Ark decision in 1898 (which in turn relied on English common law). What you are thinking of was the 1965 amendment to the immigration laws which had the effect of increasing legal immigration from Africa and Asia (but had nothing to do with birthright citizenship).
