If only we had annexed all of Mexico way way way back in the day, we wouldn’t have this crap, and we’d have many beautiful, safe tropical vacation spots within the continental United States.
(I know, I know, there are some really great places to vacation within our borders.)
I posted something similar in a comments section of a Yahoo story after some La Raza type sounded off on Reconquista. I told him it was too bad that after we entered Mexico City in 1847, we didn't keep everything north of it. Had we done so, the place would be as prosperous as Texas is now, even in this downturn. Never got a reply. (Hope he had apoplexy :-) )
