Virtually all the corn grown is some type of hybrid, i.e. genetically modified by selective cross breeding, and bears little resemblance to the maize grown by the Aztecs. Would these environmental Luddites have us go back to growing only “natural” varieties of corn that have small yields and are susceptible to many pests and starve as a result?

I’m not sure if this report is true, but I spoke to a South African Afrikaaner (yes, a white farmer) who told me that Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe actually REJECTED crop donations for his starving people when he learned that they were genetically modified.

The result -— thousands of starving people crossing over from Zimbabwe to South Africa as refugees. This from a country that used to be one of the bread baskets of Africa. GO FIGURE.
