I don’t care what anyone says , this is one he** of a girl. I have been around 79 years and it takes guts to do what she has done and gone through. She will do well in the future and is an asset to our USA.
Flame on, this is the type of person that built our country and made it strong. The ones opposite of her are the ones that are tearing it down. I can’t think of many challenges she will encounter in her life that would equal this and life is usually tough.

Her rescue cost something on the order of $ 250,000 of other people's money. Should she repay them?

Agreed. 16 yo boys that lied about their age went ashore at Normandy, so I'm not sure why everyone is so upset about this girl that accepted the risk of an incredible adventure. My hat is off to her. These are the kind of people that make America great not 16 yo welfare queens that are pregnant with their 3rd kid from a 3rd "father."

It's really not that impressive. Back in the day, the type of person that built our country probably wouldn't have seriously thought of trying to circumnavigate the globe solo because they'd know it would be all but actual suicide.
They didn't have composite hulls that were basically unsinkable. There were no emergency beacons. Navigation was a well-honed skill because it was by sextet, not GPS. There were no weather forecasts. No satellite phones. When you got in trouble there was no aircraft that would be out homing in on your position within a few hours.
Back then - in the same circumstances - she'd already be dead.
I'm not tearing her down, I'm just not going to romanticize her trip.

The payment for the rescue will be worked out, one way or another.
I've been appalled at some of the comments I've seen on here. One poster even said it might have been good if she'd died because then it would teach other kids not to try something like that.
That post made my blood run cold.
What has happened to the American spirit?
