If this was just about ‘adventure’, or ‘living her dream’, she could have waited a month, a year...whatever. But she couldn’t afford the trip on her own, and sponsors don’t pitch in big cash for someone just ‘living her dream’ - so she went when it wasn’t safe (OK, there is NO time that is safe for such a feat, but shades of danger), and her parents actively supported her doing so.
Bad, bad idea.
I want to encourage my kids to take chances. Thought out chances, with the risks and rewards weighed and accepted or rejected as unacceptable.
This wasn’t a noble attempt. It was a fraud, using a gimmick to sucker others to pay for a risky stunt so she wouldn’t have to do it on the cheap, or with her own money.
Circus, not life.
