EPA Vote Will Be As Toxic As Health Care Vote for Senators
Americans for Prosperity ^ | 6/10/2010 | AFP Blog

Posted on 06/10/2010 6:46:10 PM PDT by Qbert

Following the Senate’s failure to curb the Environmental Protection Agency’s global warming-based power grab, Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips released the following statement:

“This is outrageous. The Senate has allowed the EPA to essentially turn itself into a super-legislature. The EPA is simply rewriting the law to suit the administration’s purposes, and the Senate is unwilling to stop them.

“The Obama administration can now continue pursuing an extreme global warming agenda, sending our energy prices skyrocketing and gaining sweeping regulatory control over the United States economy – without passing legislation in Congress.

“Sen. Jay Rockefeller got it exactly right in explaining his yes vote: ‘The EPA can't decide. We have to. I'm elected to protect my people and my country.’

“Unfortunately, far too many senators refused to protect their people and the country. Every senator who voted NO voted to look the other way, to outsource legislative responsibility to the EPA, and allow that agency to run roughshod over American families and workers.

“Like health care, this vote will have devastating political consequences for senators on the wrong side of their constituents. November is coming, and their constituents will not forget.”

Roughly 100 seats are “in play” this Nov.

That’s about 20% of the seats up for election.

What voter outrage?

Deny funding for the EPA after the GOP takes back the house.

The radicals don’t care. They know they’ll lose in November and want to inflict as much harm on the USA as possible.

The GOP needs to put somebody besides Bill Kristol in charge of legislative strategy.

Not negotiating on carbon reduction is turning out as bad as not negotiating on health care.

Bull!
No way 3 rinos should have gone bad on this bill.
This 50/50 vote was the easiest chance to rein in this idiotic climate/EPA crap.
Now we’re gonna be talking watered down crap and tax - on the heels of the BP emotions. There is NOTHING about climate change/carbon taxes or any variation thereof that should see the light of day. The whole thing is climatic voodoo pap.

The legislators don’t write the bills, they don’t read the bills and they don’t oversee any regulations... why do we need these guys again?

All 41 GOPers and 6 dems voted for the legislation. 53 dems voted against.

“EPA needs to be dismantled brick by brick by bricks.”

I don’t completely agree - this place would look like a combination of Chernobyl and Bhopal by now without them - but they need to be rolled back to their original mission, (which was successful), and need to be staffed to maintaining that original mission.
