I agree. Where is the original rationale for the use of the dispersants? Where’s the current rationale for the use of the dispersants?

Follow the money.

If memory serves these products are banned in other countries.

But then again the US is still the country that wants you to have almost FORTY vaccines with no regard for long term affects....no other country is that stupid.

I believe dispersants were designed for much smaller spills, nothing at for these sort of scales.

Where is the original rationale for the use of the dispersants?

To disguise and deceive the public into how much oil is being released into the Gulf. Out of sight, out of mind rationale. . . imho

According to a blog, the usual suspects are to blame. Exxon invented the dispersants and they are now NALCO--major stockholders Warren Buffet, Maurice Strong, et al--made millions if not billions from dispersants used and stock rising. This blog was pretty well researched with links, some of which were difficult to come by. A lot of people took a lot of hours researching this. Sorry I am such a boob about reading and not bookmarking. It may have been posted on FR, but I think I went to it from Drudge.

Googling NALCO dispersants would probably carry you there. It even had research showing how toxic it is to ocean life. But hey--the big guys made money, which is ok if they are not doing it in a foul way. Here, they have helped kill jobs, living creatures, and ruined seafood, to say nothing of giving the EPA a reason to stop offshore drilling.--which drilling would be so much safer on the shelf about 30 miles closer to shore.
