"One of the worst human-rights violations in the world today" – this is how Nelson Mandela has characterized Israel's naval blockade of Hamas-controlled Gaza, and the defensive actions the Jewish state's soldiers were forced to take onboard a Gaza-bound ship. The Mavi Marmari was one in a flotilla of six ostensible aid ships headed to Gaza in contravention of the naval blockade.
And I know this how? Norman Finkelstein, another of Hamas' effective spokesmen – left-liberal, Jewish academics often are – has galvanized Mandela for moral suasion in condemning Israel's actions.
The fact that Mandela made the condemnation in his capacity as a member of the U.N.'s "Committee of Elders" was supposed to further bolster Finkelstein's position (made on "Russian TV"). According to Finkelstein, this particular coven includes another international holy man, Desmond Tutu....

The Congress of South African Trade Unions yesterday applauded the move and called for all diplomatic ties with Israel to be cut.
The federation said it was "pleased that SA has joined the growing number of governments and peoples of the world who cannot let the Israeli government get away with such barbaric acts, their continued ill-treatment of the people of Gaza and their illegal acts against the Palestinian people".
Mandela is not a saint, and he has no business pretending to be. He’s an old Marxist guerrilla who had the good fortune of being freed from prison.
Mandela is a thug and a terrorist who should have been left in that cell to rot.
