I am old enough to remember when grocery bags were always paper.. THEN to “save the trees “ stores were encouraged to go to the awful flimsy plastic ones.. now of course plastic is an environmental “issue”

So its back to paper IF YOU PAY or bring your own cloth... I expect in 10 years they will find a problem with the cloth ones and we will move to daily grocery shopping so we can carry the food in our pockets

There have already been problems associated with the cloth bags. They tend to hold liquid that drip from the contents. That liquid attracts bacteria. Thus, unless they are washed and sanatized frequently, they can be the source of bacteria.
