I don’t “prefer” to see patterns. But when they happen, I pay attention.
On one day, back in 1984, I decided to go to Nellis AFB to get a prescription filled, shop at the commissary and BX, and fill the tank with gas.
I drove onto the Base, and as I signaled to turn into a parking space in front of the pharmacy, the turn signal arm came off in my hand.
I said, “OK. I can deal with that.” I walked across the lot to the door of the pharmacy only to be met with a sign that told me the pharmacy was closed that day because a new computer was being installed.
I said, “OK. I can deal with that.” And I drove to the BX gas station. As I pulled into the drive, I saw a sign that said there was no gas available at that time, but tomorrow would be better. I said, “OK. I can deal with that,” and I went home.
You may see this as nothing, but to me, it was a series of THREE! When things happen to me, no matter what they are, they happen in a sequence of three which encompasses no more than a 36 hour period of time.
You may scoff, and so may others. But once “The Three” are done with, I can go for years without ever having another bit of “bad luck.”
Pay attention. The Three may be crucial at some point in your life.
You can remember THAT from 26 years ago?
All three of those are so minor I’d forget about them in a week, and the fact that all three happened on the same day I’d easily forget in a month.
Hope nothing serious ever happens to you, but then I must have a really hard life.
