My understanding from a relative that lives in Siskayou County, just across your border, the Fed has destroyed the timber industry at the urging of the militant, medling EnvironMentalists and put way over half the population on some form of public assistance including foodstamps.

But it appears to me that your county on your side of the state line and ours on our side have all become Obama voters, getting more and more comfortable with public assistance and endless extensions in unemployment benefits that went bankrupt as an "insurance" scheme just as Obama hit the Oval Orrofice in 2009!!!

Now the damned EnvironMentalist have convinced the government of CA to rip out four perfectly good reservoirs on the Klamath River which will REALLY harm the environment by causing the late summer flows to drop to zero for the salmon who better start growing legs.

To say nothing of the collection of toxics to be exposed at the bottom of these dammed reservoirs!!!

The EnvironMentalists have such inordinate influence over our intimidated electeds that local elected officials are just run over roughshod, with absolutely no regard for anything, including the dammed fish!!! (who do know how to use fish ladders by now)

Yes, I'm afraid you are right and the State of Jefferson has now been truly "still born!" It's not a conspirisy, but it is inexorable orchestration and it's spreading as I type this!!!

The economy is lousy. We never recovered from the devastation of the Northwest Forest Plan on our timber communities. They have systematically gone after the Upper Basin farmers, the suction dredge miners, the mid-basin farmers, the proposed geothermal plant, the proposed cogeneration facility, the proposed water bottling plant and the four dams. They are proposing two National monuments. Mercy medical just layed off 50 people, Coca Cola is closing its water bottling plant and our County government is laying off about 50 people. Unemployment was at 18.5% before all the layoffs. There are no jobs here.
