WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says the government is in charge of the response to the Gulf oil spill, not the oil company BP.

Obama says all steps BP takes to end the huge spill must be approved in advance by the government. Obama says his administration will do whatever is needed to protect and restore the Gulf Coast from this "unprecedented disaster."

‘President Barack Obama says the government is in charge of the response to the Gulf oil spill, not the oil company BP.’

If Barry said that... he’s just signed himself up to own the success or failure of the operation. Happy Katrina Day!

LIAR! Everything? How about getting engaged with this thing. Take some responsibility for lack of completion. Don’t point fingers at BP then tell them everything they do has to be approved by some government bureaucrat.

Barry has been MIA on this one all along. Took him 12 days to even acknowledge it and then he said the government would keep its boot on the throat of BP to make sure it does what is right. This is all a political tool to push through cap and tax. Go back to playing golf, loser. He’s not even going to attend services at Arlington for Memorial Day and go to Chicago to hang with his corrupt homeys. Not a President that I want to admire, that’s for sure.

No doubt Obama had two speeches ready ... first, if they were not thinking it had been contained, it was ALL BP’s fault and they were in charge of it. Second, if it was looking like it was being contained, his administration had been in charge all along. A couple of hours before his press conference it was looking like it is being contained, so he went with version 2.

With Obama suspending oil drilling and exploration that will effect unemployment and tax revenues. Unless they make a deal.

So the Gulf area people are saying the government is moving too slow and Barry just said the reason we have an oil spill is because the 30 day permit period is too quick and givernment review is waived?

Seems like he just confirmed the local government's complaint. The Government moves too slowly when they do become involved.

I see. So the government is responsible for the failure to immediately take action and prolonging the problem. That would also mean that BP bears no responsibility, only BO and his administration.

If I heard him correctly he also said he delayed BP’s top-kill attempt. Earl on he said that his administration had given BP the ok to go ahead. He then later bragged about the brain trust he put together to study the possible problems associated with that effort. So if you put the two statements together you can conclude that BP would have used the top-kill weeks ago if it hadn’t had to wait for Obama’s brainiacs to give approval.

Obama reminds me of the cartoon caracter from the 1930s.
He struts his stuff, then when the “bad buy” shows up he runs and hides while others save the day.

When all is safe he comes out, throws out his chest and says...”Well! I guess WE showed him!”

He also said all the easily accessible oil has already been sucked out of the ground , and that is why we have to drill so far off shore. That is an outrageous lie. He also said Salazar has been cleaning house at MMS since day one. I wish a reporter had asked him to name even one person who was fired.

I do not see him declaring this a “National Disaster” which would release Disaster relief funds....no no no, BP will pay for this...He is a lying snake, IMO.
