Who will primary voters choose to face Denish?(NM-R primary)
KOB-TV4, Albuquerque ^ | March 26, 2010 | Stuart Dyson

Susana Martinez now has a substantial lead over Allen Weh in the Republican race for governor in a Survey USA poll, and she's also beating Democrat Diane Denish in a match up for the general election.

A sample of 464 likely to vote republicans shows Martinez beating Weh 43% to 33%. The rest of the candidates are far behind, in single digits, with almost no hope of catching up by primary election day next Tuesday. Pete Domenici Jr. has 8% in the poll, tied with Doug Turner, while Janice Arnold-Jones is last with 3% of the vote. The poll has a margin of error of 4.6%, well within Martinez' 10 point lead.

Martinez, the district attorney in Dona Ana County, beats Weh, a retired Marine colonel turned businessman, in every category except republican voters 18 to 34 years old. Weh leads in that group by 49% to 32%.

Martinez beats Weh among males, 41% to 34%, and among females by 46% to 32%. She leads among Hispanic Republicans by 20 points, 49% to 29%, and leads Weh with Anglo Republicans by eight points, 42% to 34%.

Among conservative Republicans her lead is eight points, 43% to 35%, and among moderates her lead is 18 points, 49% to 31%.

~~snip~~

Survey USA polled 1,405 likely to vote Democrats, Republicans, and Independents across the state in a potential match up of Susana Martinez and sure-to-be Democratic nominee Diane Denish, who is running unopposed in her party's primary.

The results show Martinez ahead of Denish by 6 points, 49% to 43%. Denish beats each of the other Republican candidates in this portion of the poll, which has a margin of error of 2.7%.

The polling interviews were conducted from Sunday, May 23 to Wednesday, May 25.

Have you been listening to Diane’s campaign radio ads??

She’s making noises like a pro-business, small gummint Republicrat....

She’s trying to do what that rat in PA-12 did. Lie through her teeth. She better be called out on her lies soon. She has been in Santa Fe too long to play innocent.

It’ll probably be John Sanchez, the 2002 Gubernatorial nominee. This will be the first Hispanic GOP ticket in NM in memory.

One of the below:

John Sanchez [Ex-State Rep., Ex-Los Ranchos Village Councilman, Businessman & '02 Governor Nominee]

Kent Cravens [State Sen. & Businessman]

Brian Moore [Ex-State Rep. & Grocery Store Owner]

The Lt gov. runs in a separate race.

Sanchez is an ambitious guy. If he wins Lt. Gov., he’ll probably be torn between running against Bingaman in the 2012 Senate race or waiting until 2014 and running against Udall.

I got one of Weh’s Robo calls from Karl Rove saying Weh is not for amnesty for illegals followed immediately by one from Martinez with a border county sheriff who says the opposite.

I trust Martinez more than Weh. Weh is self-serving and his attack on the tax issue was shown to be complete BS.

Susana Martinez is great! She has done a great job in Dona Ana County putting perps behind bars.

Susana Martinez needs to do a little work on her website, especially where we donate, and she should consider setting up for paypal.

The results show Martinez ahead of Denish by 6 points, 49% to 43%

Excellent!
Huge improvement from Feb and March, when Denish was clobbering Martinez by big margins:

Rasmussen NM-Gov (3/24, likely voters):
Diane Denish (D): 51
Susana Martinez (R): 32
Some other: 7
Not sure: 10
http://www.swingstateproject.com/diary/6690/rasmussen-reports-vol-13

Public Policy Polling (2/18-20, registered voters):
Diane Denish (D): 46
Susana Martinez (R): 32
Undecided: 21
http://www.swingstateproject.com/diary/6457/nmgov-denish-leads-domenici-jr-by-5

That Sarah Palin endorsement and campaign appearance has done wonders for Susana Martinez

I called them Tuesday morning and told them about that -- the donation page is NOT secure. However, there is a link to a secure page at the bottom. I will call the local office this morning and let them know. Someone could hack the page and derail/torpedo her campaign.

This is good news, Weh really overplayed his hand and Martinez showed she’s tough and won’t back down.

I agree Sanchez will probably take the Lt. Gov primary, although Kent is a good guy.

I usually see Stuart Dyson at Costco, he’s a hoot.
