May be a palty number, but it’s not nothing. He has to make a decision one way or another, which will piss off someone. By sending ANY troops to the border he’s taking sides to the dismay of someone. Just like people are freaking out about the AZ legislation, not because of its contents but because there is legislation at all, those we want out will get disturbed over the fact that the Obama is sending troops to the border - regardless of number or purpose.
President Obama told Senate Republicans Tuesday that he’s read the controversial Arizona immigration law and is concerned it would allow for discrimination — but he is planning to deploy up to 1,200 National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to allay security concerns.
