Damaged his reputation? He was literally in office for life, this even AFTER berating his own constituents.

This is the kind of thing that gives the FBI a bad name and gives these citters the belief they are above the LAW.

A real shame the US Navy want to name a ship after this reprobate!

Serving your country on a ship honoring the King of Pork would be far more shameful than building it. Can you imagine how embarrassing it must be to work at the John Murtha Airport.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- The John Murtha airport sits on a windy mountain two hours east of Pittsburgh, a 650-acre expanse of smooth tarmac, spacious buildings, a helicopter hangar, and a National Guard training center. The key to the airport's gleaming facilities -- and, indeed, its continued existence -- is $200 million in federal funds.

Inside the terminal on a recent weekday, four passengers lined up to board a flight, outnumbered by seven security staff members and supervisors, all suited up in gloves and uniforms to screen six pieces of luggage. For three hours that day, no commercial or private planes took off or landed. Three commercial flights leave the airport on weekdays, all bound for Dulles International Airport.

The airport's passenger count has fallen by more than half in the past 10 years. When Johnstown native Bill Previte arrived on a recent morning, he lamented that his plane was half-empty and that the terminal was deserted.

"Doesn't it seem kind of ridiculous to have a motorized carousel for the baggage claim when 15 people get off the airplane?" he said. "It's obvious: There's not enough population to justify this place."

I believe that’ll make for some interesting reading.

I've only briefly glanced at the files, but in one of them referencing the ABSCAM sting and the eight congressman being investigated the FBI included a newspaper clipping from a 1980 Washington Star article reporting on the investigation. It included this little gem....

In addition to serving on the Appropriations Committee, Murtha is a member of the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, the chamber's ethics committee.

When I read that, for some reason I immediately thought about the UN decision to appoint Iran to the Human Rights Commission.

Wow!

I’ve never read a word about Murtha being on the ethics committee. Seems like he and the powers that were might not have wanted that widely known later on. LOL!
