Sure that makes sense (meaning your explanation make sense, not hiking in Iran :))

Or - they really could be spies of some sort - as Iran says - I wouldn’t completely rule it out.

If I may explain further, would I want either of my children in Evin. No. Never. Would I want to run immediately to their side to give them my support, love, comfort, and to plead on their behalf? Yep. That, however, only encourages the j*rk-offs in Tehran to do more of the same.

Had someone in the US government had the b*lls to tell the Islamic Nutcases in charge of Iran where to stuff it twenty years ago, I doubt any of this would be happening. True, people might have been injured or killed. Americans might have been put in harms way. Some might have died.

Today we have Americans in harms way. Just as members of the military, these ADULTS are there by their own choice: hiking in a risky part of the world, where integrity has an entirely different definition than it does in our culture.

There is a point where we, the United States of America, collectively must put our foot down when it comes to Iran. It may take Americans dying. Would I want my children to be those who die? No. Do military families who send their children want their children to die? No. Sometimes tough measures are necessary.

On another thread a FReeper asked for songs for scouts to sing to members of the military returning home. I suggested America the Beautiful. The third verse sums up what I’m trying to say:

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

1) Anyone stupid enough to get themselves into this situation deserves it.

2) My kids would never be this stupid.

3) If my kids somehow became this stupid, I would sell my home, liquidate every asset I have, and hire every former Blackwater employee without a Meritorious Restraint medal I could find, and fly them in with orders to kill everything that isn't my kids.

4) Where the F is the Obama Coup on this issue? Hell, even Jimmah Carter sent in a couple of poorly-equipped helicopters to get Americans out of Iran last time the camel-loving Satanists held some of ours. What's Barry doing? Golfing For Awareness of American Prisoners in Iran?

Right - it’s also a sad commentary on the state controlled media - where everyone just parrot’s the “out hiking” line with no willingness to look beyond it!

Here is some background on these "kids". They are not the innocent hikers the MSM wants us to believe.

Sarah Shourd is an anti-Israel “journalist” who lives in the Middle East (probably in Damascus, Syria, from which she’s written some of her articles), writes sympathetic pieces about terrorist-host state Syria, attacking Israel, and taking her Syrian patrons’ false point of view that Israel’s Golan Heights is “occupied territory.” She also writes about how Israel oppresses the Syrians. Hilarious. I mean, no biggie that Bashir Al-Assad cuts his people apart limb by limb, like his father did to journalist Salim Al-Lawzi, that Syria has an atrocious human rights record and tortures dissidents, let’s concentrate on blaming the Jews. That’s her strategy.Shourd describes herself as a “ teacher-activist-writer from California currently based in the Middle East.

Shane Bauer is a UC Berkeley grad who has written for the far-left The Nation and “reported” for the Terrorist News Network a/k/a Al-Jazeera. He lives in the Muslim Mid-East, speaks Arabic and his Berkeley degree is in “Peace and Conflict Studies”–typical far-left degree for Jimmy Carter groupies. He lives and is based in Damascus, Syria–a nation for whom he’s toed the party line. From his Damascus digs, he’s written articles for left-wing media outlets about how Muslims in Syria love Obama but need to see him change American foreign policy toward Israel and the Islamic world. Sound like an “innocent hiker” to you?

SO much for the U.C. Berkely education. Their professors didn't tell them that Iranians are a mean, nasty lot. Probably thought the Youtube and Twitter video of the Iranian uprising earlier was made by Pixar.

the background of the 3rd hiker:

Joshua Fattal, also a Berkeley grad is an environmental activist who hosted a “resistance” radio show. Media reports say his father is Iraqi, and he said he was traveling there to get in touch with his roots. He earned a degree in environmental economics and policy. He also taught high-school students in Berkeley and worked in New Hampshire. He most recently worked and lived at Aprovecho Research Center in Cottage Grove, Ore. The nonprofit facility is located on a 40-acre ranch and is focused on sustainable living skills, sustainable forestry and organic gardening, its Web site states. At Aprovecho, Fattal held a position as internship coordinator. He was a graduate of the program himself and traveled to small towns in Oregon and Guatemala to implement some of the sustainable living ideas taught at the center . . . . While Fattal was at Aprovecho, he co-hosted a weekly radio show, “Rhythms and Resistance,” on the center’s community station.

He sounds like a Berkekly vegan who has lost his mind. Probably breast fed until he was 9.

Ah OK - now I see. I say let ‘em rot there - they’re with their Jew-hating buddies - should be paradise on earth for them.
