Unions to spend $100M in 2010 campaign to save Dem majorities
The Hill ^ | 5/21/2010 | Kevin Bogardus and Sean J. Miller

Posted on 05/21/2010 7:53:29 AM PDT by markomalley

At least two influential unions will spend close to $100 million on the 2010 election, with most of those funds going to protect incumbents.

Union officials told The Hill they plan to help endangered members — particularly freshmen — who made politically difficult votes in a year during which an anti-incumbent mood has filled the country.

And the number will be even higher since the AFL-CIO declined to give its figures.

While the labor movement has displayed an aggressive tack in Democratic primaries, including supporting some challengers over incumbents, it remains concerned about the party retaining its congressional majorities.

As a result, it plans an enormous spending spree to help ensure Democratic control of Congress.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) plans to spend in excess of $50 million during the 2010 campaign, part of which will fund “a massive incumbent protection program,” according to Gerry McEntee, president of the union.

AFSCME spent roughly $67 million on its political activities in 2008. But the $50 million slated for the 2010 elections is the largest expenditure the union will make in a midterm election, according to union officials. The money will go to help defend the union’s top tier of eight Senate seats and 34 House members.

“We have got to protect the incumbency in the House. We have got to protect the incumbency in the Senate,” McEntee said. “It is going to be hard. Those tea-baggers are out there. There is an anti-incumbency mood out there.”

After the top tier, there will be a second tier of House candidates AFSCME will be monitoring and will step in to help defend if they become endangered by GOP challengers.

Of course, when unions spend the money, there is no problem. It is just those pesky corporate donations and *gasp* grassroots participation that must be stopped under any circumstance.

From their taxpayer funding. i.e., from you and I.

Unions have close, and historic ties to organized crime.

Unions have close, and historic ties to the Democrat party.

Am I being redundant?

You are unfortunately correct. The Unions are being funded by the taxpayers at this point in history. We are funding our own demise. It is sick and twisted and the Unions will come to our house and intimidate our children or beat us up in public if we don’t like it.

AFSCME and SEIU are scared that if the Dems lose their majorities their public employee gravy train will run dry. This is part and parcel of the incestuous relationship between Democrat politicians and the public-employee unions. Of course, these clowns will avoid any scrutiny in the Orwellian “Disclose Act” being pushed right now. That is designed to hamstring business and individuals and empower unions and left-wing activist groups.

There is never enough money for these people is there? Where do they think this money will come from? The whole country is hurting right now but they don’t care. They want more and more.

Remember how we heard earlier this year how more than half of the stimulus funds hadn't been spent yet? Care to venture a guess?

From their taxpayer funding. i.e., from you and I.

Sort of like an autoimmune disease, in which the tools that ostensibly would fight the problem turn against the body and become part of the problem itself.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) plans to spend in excess of $50 million during the 2010 campaign,

This needs to be made the subject of a counter campaign, and the taxpayers made aware that it is their taxes that are being used to fund the campaign.

That's right. So prepare to suck my b****.

Precisely. There's a method in the madness, though. They know a Democrat Party majority means that union pensions will be bailed out by taxpayers.

Remember November. The Democrat vermin must be removed.

The monies these unions use to keep democraps in office/in power comes from forced withholding from salaries where unions have forced employers to hire union workers. With that level of corruption, would anyone actually expect the prime criminals (the democrat party is a criminal enterprise) to not commandeer tax collections out to repay the unions (in healthcare mandates and retirement takeovers) so their scam can continue to control industries and funnel the pay of workers into the continued empowerment of democrats? The democrat party is a criminal enterprise which is now not even trying to cover their use of the thuggish unions as their enforcers. Until someone defends their home by blowing one or two of these threatening thugs in a mob off of their porch, SEIU and the AFL-CIO will only escalate their cover of criminality.

No amount of dirty money will save them from the political bloodbath they are about to experience.

WE ARE OVER THE TARGET

We surround them

The millions of dems who are now without jobs, will not turn out and vote for The Regime this time around.

Where is John McCain and McCain-Feingold?

The law that handed the Dems Congress in 2006/2008 and Obama the white hut. Bush and Rove were too busy working on amnesty to veto it.

I hope so. Obama needs to be investigated and impeached as fast as possible if the bums get thrown out in Nov.

Unions should be forced to join a union with dues at a 90% of their income.
