UK: First TV advert selling abortion - but pro-life groups demand a ban
The Daily Mail (U.K.) ^ | May 20, 2010 | SEAN POULTER

The first abortion commercial on British television is to be broadcast next week - in defiance of concerns from family groups and church leaders.

The Marie Stopes organisation, which receives an estimated £30million a year from the NHS to carry out abortions, is behind the controversial advert.

Angry campaigners claimed that Marie Stopes is taking advantage of a loophole in advertising regulations.

(edit)

Marie Stopes is keeping details of the commercial secret. But its theme is 'Are you late?', and features shots of worried-looking women.

Marie Stopes carries out 65,000 abortions a year.  It receives fees estimated at more than £30million from the NHS to provide 80 per cent of these as well as other services.

Mr Calvert said: 'People will be shocked to know how much public money is given to Marie Stopes to carry out abortions for the NHS.

They will be more shocked some of that money is being used to promote the pro-abortion agenda.'

Controversial: A scene from the TV advert made by the Marie Stopes organisation which will be shown on Channel 4

How long will it be before similar ads begin appearing on TV here in the USA?

I remember the uproar when 'feminine products' were first advertised on TV.

I remember the uproar when condoms were first advertised on TV.

Now, in both cases, it's an 'everyday thing'....and the slope has been so slippery that now we are at the point of advertising child-murdering services on television.

How long will it be before the 'clinics' that provide 'euthanasia services' will be advertising on TV?

How long will it be before Hamas and Islamic Jihad start advertising on UK and American television?

Fifty years ago, people probably thought ads for condoms or the various 'sexual enhancement' pills and products would never appear on TV.

If things are so liberal I am sure some conservative group could place an ad on every station that this is running on.

Why not murder a child its fun and without consequence.

Probably not. A 70+ year old man in Britain sent some pictures of abortions to abortionists with a letter saying “this is real abortion, look at the expressions on the baby’s faces” you know, trying to reach their heart.

He was imprisoned.
