Election 2010: Arizona Republican Primary for Senate (Rasmussen Poll: McCain 52%, Hayworth 40%)
Rasmussen ^ | May 19, 2010 | Scott Rasmussen

Senator John McCain continues to lead Arizona’s hotly contested Republican Senate Primary contest but his level of support is stuck in a narrow range between 47% and 53%.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters in Arizona finds McCain with 52% of the vote to challenger J.D. Hayworth’s 40%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

Any incumbent who earns less 50% support is considered potentially vulnerable and McCain has been hovering around that mark all year. The 2008 Republican Presidential nominee cannot be comforted by the fact that his level of support in early primary polling is similar to the numbers for Arlen Specter. Specter, defeated by Joe Sestak, led in just about all early polling but could never get much above the 50% level of support. That provided Joe Sestak with a chance to defeat the 30-year veteran of the Senate yesterday.

JD needs to go in for the kill. He’s tiptoeing for some inexplicable reason.

JD is keeping his powder dry for a late July-Early Aug broadside! No one in AZ is paying attention to this race yet. BE PATIENT!

This is disappointing. JD has dropped two points and McLame has gained 5 since the last Rasmussen. Come on JD, go for the jugular!

All of them.

These numbers are going down, but Hayworth is still close.

He needs to open up a case of whoop ass on McCain. And the Tea Party needs to get behind him, like they did with Rand Paul. Tea Party would be absolutely useless if they support Liberal RINO McCain

John McCain must be defeated. If McCain is not defeated, there will be Illegal Alien Amnesty....and AZ SB 1070 will be killed in congress by McCain and his minions.

It is scary that so many who claim to be GOP support a candidate who is funded by GEORGE SOROS.

Defeat McCain....now

JD needs to dig out video of McLame calling Conservatives racists when we opposed the amnesty bill under Bush. And he needs to air it over and over, do it now!

Not good that McAmnesty has broke 50%. He's started running as a tough anti-illegal alien Conservative now that he's in a tight race, some people are dumb enough to buy his convenient change of heart, just like yesterday where enough people were dumb enough to believe the democrat in Murtha’s old district was really an anti-Obama conservative to hand him a victory.

“He’s tiptoeing for some inexplicable reason.”

A phenomenon known as a “testicle lock box”. JD Hayworth seems to have some thing or another in his past, that McCain is altogether willing to use as his personal “nuclear option”.

Whatever it is, McCain by his very preparedness to use this tactic, violates the Reaganesque “11th Commandment” (Thou shalt speak no ill of fellow Republicans). And McCain is supposed to be heir to the Reagan-Goldwater philosophy.

JD Hayworth need speak no ill of any fellow Republican, as McCain, the quintessential RINO, is not a real Republican anyway. It is only necessary to point to McCain’s past legislative initiatives.

People in Arizona need to look at what McCain has done to close the borders. There are now over 400,000 illegals in Arizona. Not a big feather in his hat.

I don;t believe this. Rasmussen has been dodgy since their site went down, just before the Massachussets win for S. Brown.

Used correctly, that would kill McCain.

Thank you BO. Your controllers sure bought a pig in a poke with your red diapered, affirmative action ass.
