I mean really, was the guy driving the truck really on the lookout for random dogs running around near planes outside an airport?
Dogs on the tarmac area (pickup was servicing their plane) is just a stupid idea.
From a genera aviation's pilot's comments on the one FBO (Fixed Base Operator) at Bangor.
“Used BGR twice recently in our Challenger. The staff there were very nice and try to help, the policies put down by the city are terrible. The “FBO” (its not a real FBO) is run by the city and it seems that the city could care less about repeat business; they just want the money from the airplanes. We needed newspapers. They had the local newspaper and the Wall Street Journal, thats it. No USA Today or anything else. Seems that if the newsstand at the terminal does not carry the paper, that the FBO will not get them for you. Crew car so that we could get lunch or get papers? Do not even ask. Rental cars? Did you order one in advance? If not then there is a good chance none are available. We were able to find someone who was nice enough to give us a ride to town to pick up newspapers and food for the crew. Best thing that could ever happen to aviation in Bangor is to have an independent FBO open up on the airport to provide some service and competition to what is there now”
There is only one tarmac area he could have used, the rest is an airline terminal ramp ad an ANG area.
