Walter Cronkite allegedly collaborated with anti-Vietnam War activists in the 1960s, going so far as to offer advice on how to raise the public profile of protests and even pledging CBS News resources to help pull off events, according to FBI documents...

And, that's the way it [actually] is...

” I was a kid when Cronkite was the “most trusted man in America”. Were the other network anchors just as bad? The only other guy I remember from childhood was Roger Mudd. I also remember my dad watching Paul Harvey’s editorials.”

The problem wasn’t were they just as bad, the issue was they were a “ trusted source” and deemed to be just presenting the news.

That would apply for all of them in my opinion.

Now we know there was an agenda, and Cronkite used his “ trusted status” to push it.

Todays MSM for the most part is on the same path, and in a sound bite / what happened today era able to get away with a lot more......

This is far from remarkable to those of us who recall Cronkite's lying about the U.S. 'loss' in the 1968 'Tet Offensive' (we actually beat the snot out of the Viet Cong) but it won't have much impact.

Cronkite's many defenders will claim that this is 'unsubstantiated hearsay' and loftily dismiss the whole thing. The leftwing media will sneer at the FBI report and quote Cronkite's defenders (mostly other TV news people) extensively while pretending that the whole idea of 'Uncle Walter' doing anything so blatantly partisan simply could never happen.

Sadly, many Americans who don't know much about Cronkite (he left his CBS anchor position in 1981) will shrug; "who cares about the Viet Nam war or some dead TV news guy?" and older Americans will either want to believe the FBI report is bogus ("they can't prove it!") or, like most political conservatives old enough to remember Walter Cronkite and the enormous influence he had on U.S. public opinion, nod their heads (as I'm nodding mine)and say: "No surprise".

I always knew Cronkite was a closet leftist that wanted the U.S. to lose the Viet Nam war to embarrass President Nixon, who was then hated almost as much as George W. Bush is by today's leftists. Now, we all know it.....40 years too late.

NEWSFLASH! Uncle Walter and Uncle Ho were on the same page of the script! Who knew? I really believed that the VC and North Vietnamese were just “agrarian reformers” and that we “lost” the war during Tet. After all, CBS said it was so. After all this time, these termites, these weevils are outed as gnawing the truth to prop up the “new” left. Call the devil by his name: Liar! Traitor!
