The Pew Hispanic Center released a sobering report this week reminding us about the bleak education outlook for the nation's largest minority group.
The most worrisome stat? More than half of all foreign-born Latino adults in the U.S. are high school drop-outs. That's compared with 25 percent of native-born Hispanics.
The implications of this trend are huge for a host of socio-economic reasons. But one of the most significant? It could lead to a more illiterate and ill-equipped workforce that's precisely what an information and technologically driven economy doesn't need.

The Fiscal Cost of Low-Skill Immigrants to the U.S. Taxpayer
I doubt these foreign-born even made it past elementary school.
Yeah, let’s give amnesty to 20 million criminal invaders, so they can vote the straight ‘Rat ticket!
Subject: Wordsmithing
Did you know that the words "race car" spelled backward says "race car".
That "eat" is the only word that if you take the 1st letter and move it to the last, it spells it's past tense - "ate".
And have you noticed that if you rearrange the letters in "illegal immigrants", and add just a few more letters, it spells out: "Go home you free-loading, benefit-grabbing, kid-producing, violent, non-English speaking assholes and take those other towel-headed, hairy-faced, sandal-wearing, bomb-making, goat-loving, raggedy ass bastards with you."
How weird is that?
I wish they were a ‘country’ drop out.
Insufficient data. Did they drop out of school to be brought to the US? Did they drop out in another nation and not even start high school in the United States? And are these actual citizens or illegals?
That’s why the dems want to lgalize them so badly - ignorant voters will be wards of the state forever.
I wish the press would quit saying immigrants when they mean illegal aliens.
Actually, Michael Barone addressed this in one of his books several years ago. Hispanics value work over education, so they go to work earlier than other people.
You made my day so much better. Thank You
Here’s something even more sobering.
Since 2000, 75%-80% of Hispanic immigrants vote for the Democratic Party.
That was good! Thanks for the laugh.
Maybe if we had insisted they learn ENGLISH via English immersion, they’d have stayed in school. Not much point graduating from high school when there’s no way you can even go to community college, because you barely speak a word of English. “Bilingual” education (nearly always actually Spanish-only education) ensures that these kids remain trapped in an immigrant ghetto that’s focused on unskilled labor. And of course, the taxpayers have been forced to shell out EXTRA money for “bilingual” unionized public skool teachers to staff these pseudo-bilingual programs.
I HAVE noticed that ... weird indeed!
I don’t know if this is good or bad news. The longer one stays in school, the more they get their brain washed it seems.
Yep, they are really taking advantage of an American education. /sarc

There was a study done in Mexico several years ago, that stipulated that 57% of the population, 18 years and above, only had, at best, an eighth grade education level.
