Buck gains ground in new Senate poll

All three top GOP Senate candidates continue to lead the two Democrats in the field, but it's the insurgent, Ken Buck, who has taken the biggest leap forward in this month's Rasmussen Reports poll.

In his strongest showing to date, Buck has a 48-41 percent lead over incumbent Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet, and he leads former House Speaker Andrew Romanoff by a 45-40 percent margin, according to the new poll released Wednesday.

Buck's lead over Bennet is identical to former Lieutenant Governor Jane Norton's, who also has a seven-point, 48-41 lead over Bennet, and a 46-41 percent lead over Romanoff.

Former state Senator Tom Wiens also gets 45% of the vote to Romanoff's 40%. His 44% support puts him in a virtual tie when matched with Bennett who earns 42%

The numbers are consistent with previous polls, all of which have shown Republican candidates leading Democratic opponents; however, only once has a candidate -- Norton in February -- broken over the 50 percent mark.

Last month, when matched against Bennet, Norton tallied 49 percent of the vote; Buck has 45 percent.

"Both parties pick their nominees in August 10 primaries, and their respective races appear up for grabs at this point," the poll concludes.

I find all three Republicans running in this race to be acceptable, but Ken Buck is my first choice. He’s the most forthright on border security and opposition to benefits for illegal aliens.

Norton’s a RINO, a McCain flunky.

This may sound like a really dumb question, but what state is this for?

She looks pretty conservative to me. Is she lying?

I agree. Originally I was negative about Buck because he was little known outside Weld County, but he seems to be getting some traction and is attracting money.
