President Obama: Did what moment required

By CAROL E. LEE | 5/13/10 2:38 PM EDT

BUFFALO — Emboldened by positive jobs numbers and an uptick in his own polls, President Barack Obama stood squarely behind his economic record Thursday and accused Republicans of doing nothing to contribute to the growth.

Obama said he was empathetic to public concerns over bailouts but defended his administration’s unpopular spending spree on aid for the auto industry, Wall Street and the economy as a whole. He didn’t like them either, he told an audience in a hard-hit region of upstate New York. He cast his choices as noble ones in which he defied “the politics of the moment” to do “what the moment required.”

“If we simply gave in to the partisan posturing in Washington — all the poll-taking and calculation that caused an entire party to sit on the sidelines – the same party that was in charge when this crisis unfolded – millions more Americans would lose their jobs, their businesses, and their homes,” Obama said in prepared remarks on the floor of Industrial Support Inc., a manufacturer in Buffalo.

“So we met our responsibilities,” the president added. “We did what the moment required.”

Those who gave up looking and would push the number over 10%.

All the people who have given up looking for jobs. The real (U-6) unemployment is actually worse than that. Last month when the U-3 unemployment was at 9.7 the U-6 unemployment was at 16.7. Last month in California the U-6 was at 21.7%

“accused Republicans of doing nothing to contribute to the growth”

Right ... and Republicans control what part of the Legislative and Executive branch?

If the Republicans win the House and/or the Senate, expect to see unprecedented attacks by Obama and his media pals on either body. They’ll make the Newt Gingrich attacks of the 1990s look harmless. This moron is itching to have someone to *really* blame for his absolute failure as a POTUS.

I *almost* want the Dems to keep Congress with much slimmer majorities ... however, that’s stupid thinking overall as we need some kind of power to prevent these idiots from continuing the perversion this nation.

Still, this small failure of a man cannot get anything done without someone to blame. The “blame Bush” mantra of the retarded is worn out and his attacks on Conservative personalities flat out failed. I fear that even if the House were to be won by Republicans with only a single seat, the “regime” and media Blitzkrieg against the Republican Speaker would be nothing short of sickening.

There are no positive job numbers. So far nothing positive has happened with this idiot in control. People are down in the dumps and the country is becoming a 3rd world shi*hole.

Them this stooge goes out to lie to the nitwits and all is well.

We need to get him out of the WH.

What a freaking disaster these lefties are. Geesh

“the same party that was in charge when this crisis unfolded”

That would be the Democrats who took over in 2006...

That would be a different party, Barry...

What positive jobs numbers? You mean all the temporary census jobs? And the recent jump in unemployment that wasn’t a jump, because it depends on what the meaning of is is?

(Obama and his propaganda machine have been successful with their lies)

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/05/13/fox-news-poll-optimism-economy-pessimism-job/

By 51-27 percent voters put responsibility for the current size of the federal deficit on former President Bush over President Obama. That’s little changed from last summer when 53 percent blamed Bush and 28 percent Obama (July 2009).

Most Democrats blame Bush (83 percent). Republicans and independents spread the liability around a bit more. A 53 percent majority of Republicans blame Obama, while 18 percent put it on Bush and 17 percent say “both.” For independents, 50 percent say Bush is responsible for the deficit, 21 percent say Obama and 21 percent say “both.”

The economy remains the top priority for Americans today, although there is disagreement on which party would lead more effectively on this issue. The poll finds by a slim 3 percentage point margin, Democrats (44 percent) have the edge over Republicans (41 percent) on which party would do a better job handling the economy.

By a wider 13-point margin, more voters think Democrats would do a better job on “oversight of financial institutions” (47-34 percent).

Goldman Sachs and Banking Regulations
Despite significant support for stricter controls on Wall Street, a majority of American voters think the regulations won’t make any difference.

More than three times as many voters favor (69 percent) as oppose (20 percent) imposing stricter controls and regulations on Wall Street and the financial services industry. To varying degrees, majorities of Democrats (82 percent), Republicans (55 percent) and independents (65 percent) favor new laws.

Who’s more to blame for the economic crisis? By 41-31 percent more people blame Wall Street for its bad financial practices than blame Congress for its bad oversight. Some 21 percent blame both equally.

More voters would pick U.S. senators (35 percent) over Goldman Sachs executives (19 percent) to manage their family’s finances. About a third says “neither.”

Moreover, 55 percent think Goldman deliberately cheated their clients. That’s more than double the number who think their clients were just taking the kinds of risks that are expected on Wall Street (25 percent).

Isn't it wonderful how hard he is working to bring the country back together again. No divisiveness, no blame game, no finger pointing.

He may actually believe the crap he is selling. Presidents are kept in a sort of a cocoon and have all kinds of handlers. obama only hangs around lackeys who are bidding for his time. If his handlers are telling him that he is doing well, why should he question them. His media will never ask an embarrasing question or go after him like they did Bush. Connecting the dots gives a picture of a guy in the office of the president receiving orders over his blackberry while being lied to about the reality that is falling all around us. How could he know what is going on outside of his shrine? Great. Another historic first. Our first bubble boy president.
