I was working with a Russian, and I asked him how to say “Knock yourself out”. I can’t remember what he said, but when he translated it back to English, something got lost in the translation... He said it means “Go Kill Yourself” lol gotta love that direct and to the point attitude.

They played a game of Russian Roulette with a Russian cruiser. Here is your rubber dingy and you have one chance of coming at us with your guns a blazing. Russian Captain orders full steam ahead, and dingy goes down with all hands on board. end of story, no survivors are viewed. the cruiser reports that the remaining ten left on a dingy and proceeded to return to Somalia (being washed ashore in about 20 days). I agree justice has been served - eliminate the pirates one by one elimination of the problem will ensue, less pirates to attack less dingys to be had. Somalian pirates must be good shark food.

I don't think the Russians worry about the crew having to clean up the mess. And there is something to be said for being direct and immediate.

Maybe not. They have attacked at least three warships. They seem to be not terribly bright.

Russians are Asians in their character. Some are blond and positively Nordic in aspect but they are Asians and they fight wars the way Asians fight wars. Their approach to little things like pirates and kidnappers is similar to the Sicilian model but a little heavier of hand.
