WASHINGTON Letting young adults stay on their parents' health insurance until they turn 26 will nudge premiums nearly 1 percent higher for employer plans, the government said in an estimate released Monday...

;-)
1% in gov’t terms = 10-15% actual...
Well it is a 100% increase for those young people who chose not to buy health insurance before voting for dear leader... Stupid kid voters...
you’re correct0 there is even a name for it: “The Rule of 10” -it says that any government program will end up costing 10 times as much as anticipated.
So this shiny new $1T health care will end up costing $10T and bankruptinc
On the good news side of this most democraps will by then be run out of town with torches and pitchforks...
Funny how a 26 year old is considered a dependent for insurance purposes. Wonder if they are considered a dependent for tax purposes?
1%? Are they freaking nuts? No wonder they can’t budget correctly. They are dumber than rocks.
just kiss my @$$ 0bama.
So they write the rules so that your insurance company has to raise your premiums to pay for the Kenyan’s health care giveaway, and the lying POS get’s a pass on the “No tax increases to pay for healthcare” BS because it’s not a tax, it’s an insurance premium, right?
ONLY 1%????? more like 10% or higher.
1% ? lol
more like 20%
Now that Democrats have defined ‘child’ as anyone under 27, can we raise the voting age accordingly?
They can be though I think its a different rule.
The thing is, though, with every job and career in the country requiring more and more income this will become an issue. I oppose the Obama bill but I do see the wisdom of possibly keeping the kids on my insurance when they have a career.
The youngest you usually graduate college is at 22 and that is more of a rarity than you realize. If one goes to law school after that the minimum is 25 before they’re out and working (and probably longer than that as lawyers face a lousy market). For many graduate programs its 2-3 (or 24-25). Med students basically aren’t on their own until they’re close to 30 or older and if its someone who changed majors a few times you can see how this goes.
The days where a kid could come out of high school at 18 and get a good job and feed a family is over and we should stop acting like they’re not. One of the consequences of requiring everyone to have more education to do everything is that it will all take longer. This is why people are getting married and having children later.
And THAT’S the way the DEMOCRATS was, don’t forget it.

Agree to your points, but with bammycare you don’t have to buy insurance to have insurance. Just buy it when you need it. What moral hazard do you face not buying insurance?
There’s that word again......nudge!
I am really beginning to hate the word Nudge with all of these Liberals in charge.
“because its not a tax
Actually, Obama made 2 promises: a) no increase in ANY taxes for those under $250K income; b) health reform will “bend the cost curve” which was variously promised as savings of $2500 per family or premiums falling 3000%” [http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/03/obama_you_will_see_premiums_fa.html]
Thus, there’s no 2 ways about it: the man lied, pure and simple (moreover, he’s a mathematical dunce who evidently was never taught that a 3000% reduction is arithmetically impossible). So I don’t care whether we toss him for being a liar, a promise breaker or a dunce, but the sooner this man vacates his office, the better off we’ll all be.
If you pay over 50% of their living expenses and they don't make more than $1300 income, they can be considered a dependent. The income limit might be $3900, but I don't have my references handy. When that dependent files income tax, there is a question on the form with respect to whether you can be claimed as a dependent on another persons tax return. That whacks "junior's" refund appropriately.
I graduated from Revelle, UCSD at age 19 in 1976. That was possible because summer school with full sessions was available every summer after 8th grade.
