The BBC reported the confrontation based on remarks by a "very senior Lib Dem source who is involved in the negotiations with the Conservatives".

The source told the BBC's Jon Sopel that during the leaders' conversation last night, the tone went "downhill" at the mention of resignation. It was claimed Mr Brown's approach was to begin "a diatribe" and "a rant" and the source said the Labour leader was "threatening in his approach to Nick Clegg".

Mr Clegg was said to have came off the phone assured that it would be impossible to work with Brown because of his attitude towards working with other people.

Has Brown gone off the end emotionally?
Just asking, he seems few sandwiches short of a full picnic basket.

Hasn’t it always been rumored that Brown had a short temper? If so, this would seem to prove it. It looks like the next PM will be Cameron. Am I wrong in assuming that?

Looks like although with this Brown commiting political suicide perhaps Labour will dump Brown and the new Labour leader might be able to broker a deal with Clegg.

I would say Brown is off his meds, but being in the UK he would have never been prescrbed meds in the first place.

If Brown got a cold shoulder from Hussein, just imagine what will happen when Cameron get office.
If I were Cameron..I think I would form a coalition govt..and then force another election after this financial debacle sinks in.

My guess is a Tory-LD coalition by Monday but it will be shaky as hell. Expect to back at the polls inside of 18 months.

Cameron and O having very little in common I agree.

It’s going to be fun watching Brown leaving 10 Downing St.

.As Nigel Farrage once said about some EU Parliament bureaucrat...he has the charisma of a wet rag and the appearance of a low level bank clerk.

Some bureaucrat? The friggin' newly appointed (where was the vote?) EU 'president'! And he was 100% spot on. Great youtube vid.

“Has Brown gone off the end emotionally ?”

Erm well, we don’t call him Rain Man for nothing.
You should be aware that 18 months ago he pledged “to push back the world financial crisis - which was caused by America.”

This is a loon that will STILL not pack up and leave Downing St, despite having lost an election.

He said on Channel 4 earlier that he will continue to “protect the British people by more investment in public services” when he knows dam well that there is no brass left in the pot thanks to his spending £1 trillion in less than a decade.

I sincerely believe that, if interviewed by a panel of mental health professionals, after a few minutes the verdict would be “complete barmpot”.

If Im going off the end emotionally its because I lost my job because of this wanker and his socialist economic policy.
