I don't know exactly what happened here, and I'll be damned if I'm going to read all 198 responses. I don't even read articles.
However, from what I know, the guy was in something called TECS which essentially documents an interaction with Law Enforcement. I think he came in with $80,000 cash, which is perfectly legal, so long as you declare it.
That information would do nothing to put him on the DHS/FBI radar. Regular folks do that all the time.
The removal? I'd bet my bottom dollar that the officer who documented the interaction left CBP and because it wasn't a serious violation, was erased. CBPOs “own” those records, and no one can change them once they're in there. Once a CBPO leaves the Agency, all of his non-critical records are removed.
