TOLEDO, Ohio -- Joe the Plumber is plunging into party politics.
Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher (WUR'-zuhl-bah-kur), who was hailed by Republican John McCain's presidential campaign in 2008, has won one of nearly 400 seats on the local Republican Party committee in Ohio's Lucas County.
The group elects the county chairman and sets the party agenda. Wurzelbacher won the seat by a 38-24 vote Tuesday in his suburban Toledo precinct.
He became an overnight sensation almost two years ago after questioning then-Sen. Barack Obama on the campaign trail about his economic policies and then when McCain repeatedly cited "Joe the Plumber" in a debate.

He could probably do well in the TEA Party movement.
400 members? That about 20x the size of my county committee.
That’s nearly 4 times the population of my little town. LOL
That’s about how many illegals you can stuff into a Maxima.
The same with Sara. They tried to financially break her to shut her up, and now she's loaded and can do all the damage to them she wants.
God does have a great sense of humor.
here in my area of Ohio, the republicans sound like democrats when they discuss as to how to get stimulus money for ‘development’ that won’t cost us anything. (?)
I’m disappointed they think we don’t understand where the stimulus money comes from.
Conservatives take note. This is the way you change the GOP from a rest home for RINOs to a party that respects the Constitution and respects conservative values. You do it one local and one state GOP party at a time. When we own enough of the local and state parties, we can kick those losers off the board of the national GOP. Get active and you won’t have to complain about the party as you will own it.
Good for you Joe.
Just stick to your guns, and don’t let them screw you over, because they will if they can find a way.
Bet you never thought this would happen back when you heard zero say “ We’re going to spread the wealth”.

Joe the Plumber didn’t even know who he was going to vote for 3 weeks before the 2008 election, not a good sign for an informed voter. If Joe can admit this short-coming, and show how he’s learned from it, he may become more inline with TEA Party ideals.
We have Barak the Dumber running the country...thanks to the puppet masters.
Destiny is a funny thing. Bet he didn’t see that coming five years ago! Go, Joe, go!
having once lived there, I am kind of shocked that there are as many as 400 Republicans in Lucas County. (sometimes I get the feeling there aren’t many more than that in Pittsburgh)
LOL! About four times the size of ours...But people don’t realize how important these county seats are...I know I didn’t. Now that I do...I’M EVERYWHERE! LOL! Get out there, put your hand out, ask what you can do..and if you are a hard worker, you will move up in the party. Just remember...EVERYONE HAS STRONG OPINIONS! LOL! I felt I was at the British Parliament at my last meeting! LOL! I LOVE IT!
GO JOE GO!!
What a snotty thing to say.
Good for Joe!
My thoughts exactly. While it is great that he recognized the ramifications of “spreading the wealth around”, I too find it disturbing that he was undecided that long.
As bad a candidate as McCain was, if you couldn’t do a five minute comparison and go...”Geez, this is a no-brainer”, then you should not be allowed to vote.
Just an observation, tell me where I’m wrong?
