TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is endorsing Marco Rubio's campaign for U.S. Senate. Bush, still popular and influential with Florida Republicans, has long been rumored to be a Rubio backer, but his endorsement comes less than a week after Gov. Charlie Crist decided to run as an independent rather than face Rubio in the GOP primary. Bush says Rubio is a passionate, principled leader who wouldn't change his views when political winds shift. Rubio says Bush has been an inspiration to him, saying, "Gov. Bush's service to Florida is immeasurable, as is his impact on my own life and career." Bush and the former House speaker will appear together Friday and a Pasco County Republican dinner.

Waiting until Rubios’s the last guy in the Republican field, isn’t much of an endorsement. Where the world have you been, Jeb?
Jeb is a pro-amnesty RINO like the rest of his family and Rubio-Estefan. Rubio’s anti-AZ comments may have screwed him in upstate FL. It showed he is pro-amnesty and Mel Martinez 2.
Crist is an aging queen. The FL GOP sucks and pushes RINOs.
I know he’s of force in FLA politics, but I’m really tired of hearing what the Bushs think.
At a Los Suns game?
Jeb Bush is a punk. Who cares what he thinks about anything or anyone.
Nobody, and I mean nobody should be endorsing in a primary. Jeb was right to wait until the last man standing. I’m no longer impressed by Jeb since he’s been so public in his support for illegal immigration and choosing Mexicans over the safety and wellbeing of Americans.
Well la di da...real brave of his majesty...
Fat Boy lost any moral authority and/or political relevance after he wimped out and threw Terry Schiavo to the wolves.
NO MORE BUSHES!
I would agree that nobody from outside a state should be endorsing someone in another state. And, I don't think the National Republican committee or NRSCC should be endorsing anyone, although the state republican committee certainly should in certain circumstances - remember David Duke? The Louisiana Republicans certainly had an obligation to make sure that idiots didn't get the nomination.
But, If a former governor wants to endorse a candidate for statewide office in their own state, I think that's perfectly acceptable.
Wow!! What a MAN you are Jeb!! A reeeel John Wayne type, finally making an endorsement of the ONLY friggin republican on the ballot!!
Jeb is really going out on a limb there.
Jeb is still very popular in Florida and if he campaigns actively for Rubio it will go a long way to put him over the top.
Many GOP politicians who are (correctly) labeled RINOs by Freepers do in fact have a lot of support among the public.
Which is why if you get all your political commentary here on FR, reality has a way of dealing you nasty surprises (cf. Fred Thompson, the canonical example).
Actually, this is good. Jeb was liked by a lot of people here in FL. So, for him to come out in full support of Rubio is a hit to Charlie crist. This should give Rubio another bounce over Crist.
Wow, what courage. Waiting until after closeted homosexual Crist bolts the party, then he endorses Rubio. Thats real political courage, Jeb. Really impressive.
From the recent polls I saw, Rubio needs this endorsement. Whatever works.
Sorry, but waiting until there’s a clear candidate is the right thing to do. FR blasted the NRSC for endorsing Crist over Rubio the second Crist joined the race, and now we’re blasting Jeb Bush for endorsing Rubio now that he’s the clear nominee?
Pick one.
